AMARILLO, Texas -- Midwestern State wrapped up the first day of play at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in a tie for eighth place at 3-under par 460. Play was halted in the middle of the second round at Amarillo Country Club. Inclement weather forced a delay during the day, and play was suspended due to darkness.
 Odessa College has a four-stroke lead over West Texas A&M for the lead at 15-under par. MSU is just six strokes behind third-place UT Tyler, which is 9-under par. UT Permian Basin is in fourth place at 8-under par.
Seth Bearden has completed 12 holes of his second round, and he is in a tie for sixth place at 4-under par. Bearden shot 2-under 69 in the first round and is just five strokes behind the leader Ken Gao of Odessa College.
Chase Kisver, who is playing as an individual, is 1-under through 12 holes of his second round after shooting an even-par 71 over the first 18 holes, and he is sitting in a tie for 17th place.Â
Anniston McIlwain is even-par and in 26th place after playing 10 holes of his second round. McIlwain shot even-par 71 in the first round.Â
Hank Germany is 1-over par in a tie for 34th place with 12 holes completed in his second round. Germany shot 2-under 69 in the first round.Â
Nathan Nelson shot 4-over 75 in the opening round but is 1-under after 11 holes of his second round, and he is tied for 52nd at 3-over.
Bryce Hoech is a stroke behind Nelson in a group tied for 63rd place. Hoech shot 3-over par 74 in the first round.
Midwestern State is shooting 9-under on the par-5s and 1-under on the par-3s. The Mustangs have 26 birdies as a team.
The second round will continue at 8:30 Wednesday morning with the third and final round to follow at Amarillo Country Club.
