DUNCAN, Okla. - - Midwestern State was one of three teams to shoot under par in the final round of the Hrnciar Invitational on Tuesday and finished in second place, six strokes behind Pittsburg State at 13-under 851. Anniston McIlwain tied for third on the individual leaderboard at 7-under 209.

The Mustangs edged UT Permian Basin by one stroke for the runner-up position as the Falcons shot 2-over in the final round, while MSU had the best score of the day in the 15-team field at 3-under. Pittsburg State and St. Mary's each shot 1-under in the third round. 

Liam Allan of Colorado Mines had the best round of the tournament with a 5-under 67 on Tuesday and tied Tyler Hardtarfer of Pittsburg State for first place at 9-under 207. Hardtarfer shot 4-under 68 in each of the first two rounds. 

McIlwain had five birdies in his final round and finished the 54-hole tournament with 14 biridies, which tied Allan and four other golfers for second most during the tournament. He had one more birdie than Hardtarfer.

McIlwain was the tournament's best scorer on the par 5s at The Territory and Country Club. The junior from Bulverde, Texas, shot 7-under on the four longest holes, two strokes better than his teammate Carter Ray and five other golfers.

Jaxon Donaldson and Collin Moody finished tied for 18th at 1-under 215. Donaldson opened his final round with his first of four birdies on the day and shot 1-under 71, closing out his round with three consecutive pars. Donaldson finished the tournament with nine birdies. 

Moody was even-par as he stepped up to the tee box for his final hole of the tournament. Moody carded his third birdie of the day and his 11th of the tournament at the 514-yard, par-5 seventh hole. The sophomore from Bridgeport, Texas, also shot 1-under 71 in the final round. Moody birdied the 542-yard, par-5 15th hole in all three rounds.

Ray and Ryan Griff tied for 25th place at 1-over 217. Ray shot 2-over 74 with three birdies in his final round, Griff, who shot a bogey-free 3-under 69 in the second round, shot 4-over in the final round with two birdies.

Midwestern State dominated the par 5s over three rounds, shooting 24-under par. Fort Lewis was second-best on the par 5s at 12-under.
The Mustangs tied Pittsburg State for the tournament lead in birdies with 53 and had the second-most pars with 174. St. Mary's parred 177 holes and finished fourth on the team leaderboard at 11-under.

The Midwestern State 'B' team finished in 13th place at 23-over 887. Bryce Hoech led the 'B' team, shooting 2-over and finishing tied for 31st place. Hoech had three birdies on Tuesday and shot 1-over 73 in his final round. 

Hank Germany tied of 47th place at 5-over, while Chase Kisver shot 7-over through 54 holes and finished tied for 59th place. Kisver had four birdies in six-hole stretch in his final round and finished 4-over 76. Germany had 15 pars over the final 18 holes and finished the round at 1-over 73.

Nathan Nelson shot 5-over 77 with two birdies in the final round to finish the tournament at 10-over and tied for 66th place. Ben Jones shot 9-over with one birdie in the final round and finished in 77th place at 19-over.

Midwestern State will tee it up again on Oct. 12 at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational hosted by West Texas A&M at Amarillo Country Club.
