WICHITA FALLS, Texas – For the second straight week,
Cedonyae Lott has earned Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, following over 200 all-purpose yards and a punt return touchdown during a 69-23 win over Sul Ross State.
The freshman totaled 224 all-purpose yards, while catching two touchdown passes, and returning a punt for a score. The Dallas, Texas product finished with 83 yards on punt returns, highlighted by his 58-yard dash to the endzone of a punt early in the 3
rd quarter.
Lott setup the offense in great field position most of the night with his 82 yards on kick-off return, and benefitted with a pair of touchdown catches. His only two catches went for touchdowns, hauling in a 21-yard touchdown in the 2
nd quarter, and a 38-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, finishing with 58 receiving yards.
Now with punt return touchdowns in back-to-back weeks, Lott has set a single season program record for punt return touchdowns with two. Additionally, Lott has tied a career record for punt-return touchdowns with a pair, tying Henry Johnson (1992-95) and Dominique Williams (2012-14).
Midwestern State travels to San Angelo, Texas, this weekend to face No. 21 Angelo State at 1st Community Credit Union Field at LeGrand Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
