Lott is LSC Special Teams Player of the Week after dramatic punt return for a touchdown

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Freshman wide receiver Cedonyae Lott was one of the stars in the Mustangs' 31-24 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville and has earned Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for his heroics.

Midwestern State went on a 12-play, 76-yard touchdown drive and tied the game, 24-24, with 3:43 remaining. The MSU defense subsequently forced the Javelinas to punt after three plays from their own 28-yard line.

Jared Campbell's 41-yard punt was received by Lott at the Midwestern State 31-yard line. Christian Olige and James Cooper, Jr. threw two of the pivotal blocks that spung the speedy Lott for the game-winning 69-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Lott's first career touchdown was the longest punt return for Midwestern State since 2007. He also returned a kickoff 27 yards and caught two passes for 23 yards.

Midwestern State travels to Alpine, Texas, this weekend to face Sul Ross State at Jackson Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
