WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Germano Setti and
Bruno Sanchez were named to the 2025 Lone Star Conference Players to Watch List Thursday morning.
The Mustangs, who were ranked 19th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Preseason Poll, return seven letter winners off of last season's Lone Star Conference championship squad that posted a 14-10 record and advanced to the NCAA Division II's Round of 32.
Setti, a junior from Carazinho, Brazil, is the top returner after claiming All-LSC first-team honors in singles and second-team doubles mention last season.
The reigning LSC Academic Player of the Year claimed 13 singles victories last season, including an 11-4 run at the No. 2 position, while also teaming with
Killian Guillou to post a 14-8 doubles mark.
Sanchez, a sophomore from Sabadell, Spain, rose to No. 16 in ITA singles rankings after playing his way to the ITA South Central Region finals, while junior
Juan David Duque fueled a run to No. 29 with an appearance in the ITA South Central Region quarterfinals.
Senior
Stephen Slocombe combined with
Luis Diaz Argente to earn ITA All-America honors after finishing seventh in the NCAA Division II doubles rankings with a 15-5 mark.
Slocombe and Setti head into the 2025 campaign carrying the No. 13 national doubles ranking after advancing to the ITA South Central Region finals last fall.
The Mustangs also return senior
Justin Van Amerongen and juniors
Killian Guillou and
Philip Kamara, while
Rowan Olsen is coming off of a redshirt-freshman campaign.
Junior
Jose Marquez joins the squad as a transfer from Bluefield State, while
Filip Vacula is the lone freshman, coming from the Czech Republic.
Midwestern State takes on Collin College in a scrimmage on Wednesday before opening the season at Rockhurst (Mo.) next Friday.
