DENTON, Texas -- Midwestern State battled to a doubleheader split in a pair of one-run games against Texas Woman's Sunday afternoon at Dianne Baker Field.
The Mustangs won the opener 2-1 in eight innings before the Pioneers rallied to take Game 2, 5-4.
The teams close series with a single game Monday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.

Freshman
Paige Gallegos slugged a two-run homer in the eighth inning, while fellow frosh
Addison Lindemann went the distance to lift Midwestern State to a 2-1 win in Game 1.
Lindemann permitted an unearned run on three hits with five strikeouts while going the distance in a duel with Texas Woman's ace Alyssa LeBlanc. Lindemann improved to 2-8 on the season.
LeBlanc registered 10 strikeouts while holding the Mustangs to two earned runs on four hits, but fell to 7-8.
The game was scoreless into the eighth inning before
Megan Ayala reached on a one-out infield single. After
Allie Monroe reached on fielder's choice, Gallegos launched her second home run of the season over the left-field fence to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead.
Lindemann worked her way around a pair of errors in the bottom of the frame and allowed an unearned run before striking out Tylar Lane with the bases loaded to end the game.
Gallegos went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Mustangs' attack.
GAME 2 | Texas Woman's 5, Midwestern State 4
Texas Woman's junior Lauryn Davies delivered a two-run double and stole home before the Pioneers cashed in for two more unearned runs on a Midwestern State miscue in a five-run fifth inning to come away with a 5-4 win in the nightcap.
The Mustangs jumped out to a four-run lead in the top of the first on the strength of run-scoring singles by
Paige Gallegos,
Maegan Shannon, and Camille Nunez, while
Myranda Jimenez tacked on another run on a squeeze bunt.
MSU starter
Zoe Isom allowed one hit over her first four innings before the Pioneers rallied in the fifth.
Isom struggled with her control in the frame, hitting two batters and uncorking a wild pitch before Davies delivered a two-run double to the right field gap to cut MSU's lead in half at 4-2.
After inducing Callie Bailey to pop out to shortstop for the second, Isom issued a walk to Ciana Rodriguez to put runners on the corners. The Pioneers executing the hangup play, allowing Davies to steal home while Rodriguez was chased back to first base.
Alyssa LeBlanc followed with a single to left field before Makana Morton walked to load the bases.
Delaney Boley then reached on a throwing error which allowed two more runs to score.
Kennedy Cameron came on in relief of Isom and retired all four hitters she faced including a pair of strikeouts.
TWU's Jaycie Hall closed the game with six consecutive shutout frames to improve to 4-5 on the season. She allowed four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
MSU junior Briana Dominguez led the Mustangs' attack by going 3-for-3 with three singles.
The Mustangs (5-24, 3-17) moved to 2-8 in one-run games and have two wins in six extra inning contests.
Texas Woman's moved to 15-17 on the season and 13-10 in league play.
