WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- No. 18-ranked Midwestern State fell 5-2 to No. 14 McKendree (Ill.) in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Mustangs rolled wins in all three doubles matches for the second time this season, but the Bearcats took five of the six singles matches on the way to improving to 8-1 on the season.
MSU's No. 13-ranked doubles partners of Luis Diaz Argente and Stephen Slocombe improved to 5-1 during the dual season by rolling to a 6-2 win over McKendree's Leonard Frederico and Bendix Schroeder at No. 1.
Midwestern State quickly wrapped up the doubles point when Killian Guillou and Germano Setti beat Luka Kalenic and Vishnu Prasad, 6-3, at No. 2.
Junior Justin Van Amerongen and freshman Bruno Sanchez made their season doubles debut in a 6-4 win over McKendree's Lorenzo Del Biondo and Sebastian Holden at No. 3.
Guillou extended the Mustangs advantage to 2-1 by making short work of Schroeder -- 6-1, 6-2 -- at No. 3 singles, but the Bearcats claimed the next five matches off of the singles courts.
