With runners at second and third, Kamryn Gibbs dropped down a bunt that scored Flores from third, and Gibbs reached on a fielder's choice. Skylar Herrera grounded out to third base, and pinch runner Cat Prisock came into score. Tiarra Delrosario singled to drive in Gibbs as LCU took a 7-3 lead into the seventh inning.
Megan Ayala singled in the seventh inning but was the fourth runner left stranded in the game for the Mustangs, who fell to 2-11 for the season and 0-4 in Lone Star Conference play.
Valdez (2-2) was the winning pitcher for the Lady Chaps, working six innings and allowing three runs on four hits with seven strike outs and two walks. Lubbock Christian improved to 3-5 for the season with a 2-2 record against LSC opponents.
