Luis Diaz Argente scored a big win at No. 1 doubles Saturday morning at Ward Tennis Center.
But it wasn't enough for the Mustangs, who fell 6-1 to No. 23-ranked Ouachita Baptist.
Slocombe and Diaz Argente scored a 6-3 win over the No. 3-ranked duo of Ole Valkyser and Matthew Tennant, but the Tigers managed to take the doubles point.
OBU's Elias Lagger and Aaron Osmond came off of the courts first with a 6-4 win over Midwestern State's
Juan David Duque and
Marcal Miret Avante, then No. 4-ranked Phil Exner and Alex Blanchar scored the clincher with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Ouachita Baptist claimed victories in the first five singles matches -- all in straight sets.
The Mustangs staved off the sweep when sophomore
Philip Kamara beat Lagger 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 6.
Midwestern State (1-1) welcomes Tyler Junior College for a scrimmage Friday after at the MSU Tennis Center. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
The Mustangs then travel to Durant to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State in its next regular season match on Saturday. The match begins at noon.
