CANYON, Texas -- Midwestern State and West Texas A&M shifted the regular season finale to Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. due to weather concerns. The match was originally slated for Thursday night.
Midwestern State, which is ranked No. 4 in the region, enters the match with a 9-3-5 record overall and is 5-2-5 in conference play. MSU is tied for fourth place alongside Lubbock Christian and St. Mary's with 1.67 points per conference match. Angelo State (2.46) is atop the table followed by Dallas Baptist (2.42) and Texas Woman's (1.91). The top seven teams qualify for the LSC Postseason Tournament, which begins with the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
West Texas A&M has lost its last two matches and is 6-9-2 overall with a 3-7-2 conference record and is averaging 0.92 points per LSC match. The Lady Buffs are 11th in the conference standings.
Midwestern State has a plus-17 goal differential this season, outscoring opponents, 37-20, and in the second half of matches, MSU has outscored its opponents, 24-10.
Goalkeeper
Allison Dellis has a 1.27 goals-against average and has made 82 saves with a save percentage of .812 through 15 matches for the Mustangs. Dellis is 7-3-5 and has posted two clean sheets.
Annika Medellin made her second start in a 6-0 win over Sul Ross on Monday afternoon and made three saves for her second win of the season.
Senior
Cassidy Savoy leads the team with a career-high seven goals and has added two assists this season. Savoy has 21 goals and 11 assists in her career at Midwestern State.
Madison Brinkley and Nexalee Munoz have each scored six goals for the Mustangs.
Lexi Beck leads the Stangs with 17 points, and the senior from Fort Worth, Texas, has surpassed Kari Bristow for the program's career record with 26 assists. Beck had a goal and four assists in the win over Sul Ross.
Midwestern State is 3-3-2 on the road this season with a 2-2-2 record when visiting conference opponents. The Mustangs suffered a 5-0 loss at Dallas Baptist in their last away match and are 0-2-1 in their last three matches on the road.
West Texas A&M leads the all-time series with MSU, 25-24-3, but the Mustangs have won three of the last four matches, including a 3-1 victory at home last season as
