WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Lillia Besedin and
Madison Brinkley were both named Academic All-District® honorees from the College Sports Communicators (CSC), announced the organization Tuesday afternoon. Besedin and Brinkley both earn the honor for the first time in their careers, while being the first Midwestern State Women's Soccer student-athletes since 2013 to be recognized.
Besedin caps a tremendous 2025 season, earning All-LSC 1
st Team honors and 1
st Team D2CCA All-Region Accolades. The senior midfielder led the Mustangs with eight goals and 16 points, with a game-winning goal against #1 DBU (2-0, 11/4). The defensive midfielder won LSC Defensive Player of the Week honors during the season, helping the Mustangs keep eight shutouts during the campaign, leading to an unbeaten conference season (10-0-4). The Gilbert, Ariz. native finished fourth on the team with 1,594 minutes played, recording 33 shots and 17 shots on goal.
Brinkley earns the Academic All-District honor after starting every match of the season for the Mustangs. The forward contributed three goals and two assists, finishing with eight points on the season. The sophomore forward compiled 21 shots and 10 shots on goal, scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-0 road win over Oklahoma Christian (10/1).
In order to be considered for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must have played 90% of the team's games or start in 66.6% of the team's games with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
