ROCKWALL, Texas -- Midwestern State battled tough playing conditions to deliver to the second-best team score in the final round of the Dallas Baptist Classic Tuesday afternoon at the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club.

The Mustangs carded a 12-over 300 to move up two spots and into a tie for sixth-place with a 41-over, 54-hole total of 905. MSU tallied scores of 303 and 302 on Monday.

"The wind was a 25-30 mile-per-hour constant wind," MSU coach Jeff Ray said. "It was really tough, but we played really solid golf today."

Central Oklahoma, which claimed the team title, was the only team better than the Mustangs in the final round. The Bronchos fired an 8-over 296 to pull away for an 18-stroke win after notching a three-round, 14-over 878 after firing scores of 292 and 290 over the first 36 holes.

UT Tyler finished second with a 32-over 896 and were trailed by Henderson State (900/+36), UT Dallas (900/+36), Dallas Baptist (901/+37), and MSU.

Senior Gatlin Goad carded four birdies and 12 pars on the way to his fifth par-or-better score of the season with a 2-under 70. He narrowly missed out on his second Top-10 showing of the campaign, closing with a 6-over total of 222 after logging scores of 77 and 75 on Monday.

Junior Seth Bearden (78-71-77) tied for 21st with a 10-over 226, while freshman Ryan Griff (72-80-75) turned in his best performance of the fall by tying for 24th with an 11-over 227.

Senior James Perry (76-77-78) tied for 36th with a 15-over 231, while sophomore Hank Germany (80-79-80) tied for 62nd with a 23-over 239.

Freshman Bryce Hoech (80-79-81) finished 65th with a 24-over total of 240 while competing as an individual only.

Central Oklahoma senior Jordan Wilson claimed individual medalist honors after carding scores of 70, 71, and 73 for a 2-under total of 214 to win by two strokes over teammate Bennett Baldwin and Aston Castillo of Dallas Baptist.

Midwestern State closed the fall campaign with a team stroke average of 292.33, boasting five par-or-better scores.
