BURKBURNETT, Texas -- Four Midwestern State runner were shoulder-to-shoulder as the top four runners to enter the chute Thursday night to lead the Mustangs to a perfect 15-point sweep in the Mustang Derby at River Creek Golf Course.
Sophomore
Jadyn Dangerfield was credited with her first collegiate win finishing the 4,000-meter loop in 14:47.00, and the next six runners to cross the line were a succession of teammates.
Sophomore
Ella Pando (14:47.10) was second followed by
Mariana Sanchez (14:47.20),
Nathalia Escontrias (14:47.30),
Jaycee Lyons (14:51.70),
Arianna Carballeira (14:51.90), and
Rosalene Reyes Perez (14:56.00).
Those times represent seven of the fastest 4K times in program history with Dangerfield topping out with the seventh best time.
Senior
Elizabeth Butzke placed 11th with a time of 15:35.00, while freshman
Madison Millan was 28th with 17:01.20.
Midwestern State easily outpaced the competition with Dallas Baptist taking second with 66 points ahead of Oklahoma City (98), Southeastern Oklahoma (101), and UT Permian Basin (160).
The Mustangs return to actio non Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree.
