FORT WORTH, Texas — Midwestern State women's cross country impressed at the Old Glory Gallop on Saturday morning, finishing 2
nd in a field of 40. During the 5K race at AP Ranch, 10 racers posted a personal best in the distance, led by
Ella Pando's time of 18:01.27.
The Mustangs took second place of 40 teams, finishing just behind Simon Fraser (109 total points) with 116 total points. MSU beat out Division I program Texas State, and was the highest placing Lone Star Conference team at the meet. MSU finished above 10 other LSC programs, with the conference championship hosted at AP Ranch in two weeks' time.
Pando's impressive time was enough for 14
th place in a field of 340 runners, clocking a new personal best and the 2
nd fastest 5K time in program history, based on available records. Teammate
Jadyn Dangerfield was just behind Pando, coming in 15
th place with a personal record 18:03.12. A trio of Mustangs crossed the line in quick succession shortly after, as
Grace Pineda (27
th, 18:23.05),
Rosalene Reyes Perez (29
th, 18:25.07), and
Konnar McClendon (31
st, 18:26.78) all posted a career best time.
Perla Flores (40
th, 18:35.90) and
Lula Nolen (18:42.90) rounded out the scoring for MSU in personal record time.
Three other Mustangs managed a career best during the 5K race:

Jazira Perez (100
th, 19:32.48) and
Jackie Earley (115
th, 19:50.37).
Sydney Carian competed in their first collegiate race, posting a 20:46.12, claiming 181
st.
The Mustangs will return to Fort Worth in two weeks, competing at the LSC Conference Championships on Oct. 25 for a 6K course.
