Midwestern State opened its season against two worthy adversaries and came away with draws against both MSU Denver at Stang Park and on the road at Central Oklahoma. Midwestern State finished strong against the Roadrunners but was unable to score on any of the chances it created. UCO took a 1-0 lead in the 62nd minute at Edmond, Oklahoma, but Lexi Beck took advantage of a Broncho blunder and scored nearly 10 minutes later as the Mustangs earned a 1-1 draw on the road. Spence evaluates the two non-conference performances that kicked off the season and looks ahead to an upcoming road trip as MSU faces Fort Lewis and Western Colorado in Gunnison, Colorado, this week.
