STILLWATER, Okla. -- Sophomore Ella Pando paced Midwestern State to a strong fifth-place finish at the 86th Annual Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree Saturday morning at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course.

The sophomore from Weatherford finished as MSU's front runner for the fifth time in her last seven meets, while battling to a 50th-place finish with a 6K time of 23:48.00 running among three Division I programs.

The Mustangs logged 172 points to finish fifth behind Oklahoma State (16), Texas (52), St. Mary (Kan.) (103), and Fort Hays State (Kan.) (161) and were second overall against the 16 NCAA Division II squads in the field.

Midwestern finished ahead of Division I Oral Roberts (205/8th) as well as Lone Star Conference foes Lubbock Christian (314/10th), UT Tyler (333/11th), Arkansas-Fort Smith (389/13th), Texas A&M International (439/14th), and Cameron (447/15th).

Sophomore Jadyn Dangerfield turned in a 6K personal best time of 24:08.80 to finish 62nd, while freshman Jaycee Lyons also recorded a collegiate PR to take 64th with a time of 24:10.50.

Sophomore Mariana Sanchez (24:13.00/67th) and senior Elizabeth Butzke (24:19.20/69th) rounded out MSU's countable performers, while Nathalia Escontrias (25:17.20) was 98th, Arianna Carballeira (25:38.70) was 110th, and Jazira Perez (25:59.00) placed 119th.

Midwestern State competes in the DBU Old Glory Gallop on Saturday, October 7 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.
