SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Midwestern State seeks a 3-0 start in the Lone Star Conference as the No. 33-ranked Mustangs (11-4) meet No. 29-ranked Angelo State (11-3) at the ASU Tennis Complex on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for noon.
Angelo State leads the all-time series, 3-1, including a 4-3 victory over the Mustangs in San Angelo last season. The Rambelles have won the last three meetings and are 2-0 when hosting MSU. Midwestern State has not beaten ASU since their encounter at the MSU Tennis Center in March of 2018, when the Mustangs prevailed, 7-2.
Midwestern State opened the road trip with a 4-3 triumph at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Micaela McSpadden posted straight-set wins in singles, and MSU easily captured the doubles point Friday afternoon.
Minns is 8-0 in singles for MSU with five victories coming in the No. 5 position.
Emilija Visic is 7-6 in singles matches for the Mustangs, playing 12 matches in the No. 4 position and winning her only match at No. 3 singles this season. Visic defeated Ramitha Irrinki of Angelo State at No. 5 singles last season.
Sydney Williams has won five of her eight singles matches this season. The sophomore from Austin, Texas, has played both No. 5 and No. 6 singles for the Mustangs this year. Williams won five straight singles matches from Feb. 18 – March 15.
Amelia Lawson is 7-7 and is the only Mustang to play the No. 1 position in singles this season.
Alice Di Matteo scored a 2-6, 7-6 (8), 6-3 victory over
Kyndall Quiroz of St. Mary's in her first conference singles match of the year and is 6-6 in singles overall for the Mustangs.
Minns and Visic are 7-0 as a doubles team after posting a 6-3 victory over Manuela Turolo and Milou Ter Morsche at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Visic improved to 8-1 in doubles overall, and Minns is 10-3 in doubles.
Williams and Lawson, ranked No. 38 in the nation as a doubles pairing, are 8-4 at No. 1 doubles and have won their last four matches, including a 6-1 triumph over Raina Zaffar and Alessa Maier at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Di Matteo and
Kanaha Furutani are 8-6 as a doubles team and defeated Annika Andersson Gomez and Sterre Fleur Moerdijk at Texas A&M-Kingsville, 6-1.
Midwestern State is 27-14 overall in doubles this season.
Angelo State is 3-1 in conference play following a 6-1 victory over Lubbock Christian on Friday. The Rambelles are 5-0 at home this this season.
Dianela Rodriguez has a five-match winning streak in the No. 1 singles position for the Rambelles and is 8-2 this season following a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Michelle Trochez of Lubbock Christian.
Letizia Corsini has won her last nine matches for ASU and is 10-2 this season after defeating Axelle Jacquemin of Lubbock Christian, 6-4, 7-5, on Friday.
Ramitha Irrinki improved to 7-1 in the No. 6 slot with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Taylor Nichols of Lubbock Christian. Irrinki is 10-1 overall in singles matches for the Rambelles.
Christine Jevicki won her third straight match on Friday, defeating Maya Adler of Lubbock Christian, 7-5, 6-1. Jevicki is 3-1 in the No. 4 position and 8-4 overall this season with eight appearances at No. 3 singles.
Eva Schwartz is 9-3 in doubles this season. She is 6-1 when paired with Esther Bowers, and Schwartz has gone 3-2 with Mieke Van Deventer in her last five doubles matches.
Irrinki and Ayda Guler are 8-5 at the No. 1 doubles position, while Rodriguez and Corsini are 8-4 at No. 3 doubles for the Rambelles.Â
Angelo State is 25-12 in doubles this season.
Midwestern State is on the road again Tuesday for an LSC dual-match at Lubbock Christian. First serve at Penny Gullo Tennis Center is scheduled for noon.
