Mustangs meet Hilltoppers in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas-- Midwestern State continues its first Lone Star Conference road trip with a stop at St. Edward's on Friday night. Tip-off at the Recreation & Convocation Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Mustangs appeared to be on their way to their first win of the season on Wednesday night, but St. Mary's rallied for a 70-67 victory. MSU fell to 0-9 with an 0-3 record in the LSC.

The Mustangs led for more than 34 minutes, and led by as many as 18 points. MSU only trailed the Rattlers for 53 seconds as Zarria Carter scored 33 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio.

Head coach Brenita Jackson is still looking for a complete 40-minute performance from her team.

"We can't figure out how to stick to a game plan for whatever reason, but we'll just keep working on it and get better," Jackson said.

Midwestern State sees a similar team when they face the Hilltoppers of Friday night.

"They're going to run a lot of the same stuff. Their guards are going to get down hill, so we got to get better space. We've got to have a little bit better containment from our guard position, " Jackson said.
