No. 2 Mustangs earn top seed in Super Region Four

MSU hosts either Fort Lewis or UCCS Sunday at Stang Park

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State earned the top seed in Super Region Four and will host the opening two rounds of the NCAA Division II Championship as announced via selection show Monday by the men's soccer committee.

The Mustangs receive an opening round bye and will face the winner of No. 8-seed Fort Lewis (Colo.) and No. 9-seed UC Colorado Springs on Sunday afternoon at Stang Park. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.

Fort Lewis and UC Colorado Springs will play its opening round match Friday afternoon at Stang Park beginning at 3.

The other match on the top side of the bracket features No. 4-seeded Colorado State-Pueblo playing ost to Chico State (Calif.).

On the bottom side of the Super Region Four bracket, No. 2-seeded California State-Los Angeles hosting No. 7-seeded Simon Fraser (B.C.) and No. 10-seeded Point Loma (Calif.). The winner of the pod moves on to a third round matchup against either No. 3-seeded Cal Poly Pomona or No. 6-seeded California State-Monterey Bay.

The highest remaining seed will serve as host to the third and national quarterfinal rounds set for the weekend of November 30-December 3.

The four quarterfinal winners move on to the NCAA Division II finals set for Dec. 7-9 at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews, North Carolina.

Midwestern State is making its 10th consecutive NCAA postseason appearance and 18th overall. The Mustangs boast 35 total playoff appearances including 17 as an NAIA member.
