GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- Midwestern State harriers combined for seven personal bests on the way to a sixth-place team finish in the Dallas Baptist Old Glory Gallop Saturday morning at Lynn Creek Park.
Midwestern State amassed 174 points to finish behind DBU (16), Oklahoma Baptist (97), East Central (Okla.) (100), Harding (Ark.) (137), and Texas State (167).
Sophomore
Ella Pando finished as MSU's front runner for the third time this season and for the sixth time in her last eight events. The Weatherford native placed 23rd by covering the 5K course in 18:31.60.
The time ranks 10th on the program's all-time performance list at the 5,000-meter distance and is just the third Top 10 entry on the chart since 2014. Pando's time is the fastest for a Mustang since teammate
Elizabeth Butzke paced an 18:30.40 at the Missouri Southern Stampede in 2022.
Fellow sophmore
Mariana Sanchez came in 33rd with PR time of 18:49.00, which ranks 17th on MSU's all-time 5K performance list. The Imperial, Texas, native has recorded a team countable performance in all of 11 of her meet for the Maroon & Gold.
Sophomore
Jadyn Dangerfield finished 37th with a time of 18:50.60, while junior
Nathalia Escontrias took 42nd with a time of 18:52.50. Both times are PRS and rank 18th and 19th, respectively, on the program's all-time performance list.
Freshman
Jaycee Lyons notched her fourth consecutive team countable showing, while setting a personal best 5K time of 19:03.60.
Junior Arianna Carballiera (19:34.60/79th) and freshman
Jazira Perez (19:48.80/93rd) also set PRs, while Butzke finished 53rd with a time of 19:04.40.
Dallas Baptist's Lesli Salas claimed top individual honors with a time of 17:22.10.
Midwestern State also sent a partial squad to compete in the Greyhound Invitational to preview the Lone Star Conference Championship course on the Eastern New Mexico campus in Portales.
Sophomore
Rosalene Reyes Perez finished fourth in the 6K event posting a time of 24:52.78, while sophomore
Perla Flores was ninth in her first try at the distance with a time of 27:11.43.
Sophomore
Lula Nolen (28:16.06) finished 13th, while freshman
Bella Landrum (29:25.09) was 18th.
Midwestern State returns to Portales to compete in the Lone Star Conference Championship on October 21.
