WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's
Ritse Vaes reset his own school record by scoring 18 kicking points in a 56-7 win over Western New Mexico Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
His efforts landed the junior from Wichita Falls Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Vaes also matched his own program record by connecting on four field goals, drilling kicks from 45, 29, 18, and 31 yards out. He also converting all six of his point-after attempts.
Vaes has now made 13 of his 18 field goal attempts this season and has scored the third most kicking points in program history with 191.
Vaes, who is a six-time career LSC player of the week, also earned special teams honors after making a career-long 54-yard game winning field goal against Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 23 and after making four field goals against Western Oregon on Oct. 21.
Midwestern State hits the road to play Angelo State Saturday night at LeGrand Stadium in San Angelo. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
