No. 2-ranked Midwestern State overcame an early 2-0 deficit at Texas A&M International and scored a 6-3 victory in Laredo to remain unbeaten this season. The Mustangs are 12-0-1 overall with a 4-0-0 conference record. This week, MSU travels to Lubbock Christian for a Wednesday night match and hosts Eastern New Mexico for a 5 p.m. match on Saturday.

The Mustangs have the fifth-best goal differential among Division II schools this season at +30, outscoring the opposition 38-8. The three goals conceded at TAMIU is a season high. The Mustangs had not allowed more than one goal in a match since a 2-2 draw with Rogers State at Stang Park on Sept. 7.

Senior forward Mere Escobar has at least one point in all but one match this season and has scored a conference-leading 12 goals in 13 matches. Esocbar has also assisted on six goals and leads the Lone Star Conference with 30 points. Escobar ranks fourth in the nation in both goals and points.

Max Gonzales, a junior forward, scored his third goal of the season to pull MSU even with TAMIU in the 23rd minute. In the 34th minute, Samuele Muroni scored his first of three goals in the match, and Midwestern held a 3-2 halftime lead.

Escobar provided the service on a corner kick in the 65th minute, and Juan Galindo reclaimed the lead for the Mustangs with his first goal of the year.

Anthony Perea assisted Muroni on his second goal of the night in the 80th minute after TAMIU went down a man.

Following a second red card to the Dustdevils, Conner Lewis sent a ball into Muroni, who deflected it up for a bicycle kick that he whipped past goalkeeper Gal Grodeski from 12 yards out to complete the hat trick.

Liam Pritchard played a season-low 37 minutes at TAMIU and was held without a point for the first time in five matches. Pritchard is second on the team with 14 points.

Jack Larkin has four goals and two assists for the Mustangs this season and matched a season high with four shots against TAMIU.

Midwestern State is the highest scoring team in the LSC, and 2.92 goals per game is sixth-best among Division II programs. The 38 total goals scored by the Mustangs is fifth-most in the country.

MSU is averaging 8.08 points per game, which is second in the LSC and ninth in the nation. Escobar is averaging 2.31 points per game, which leads the conference and is fifth in the nation.

The Chaps visited Stang Park for a conference duel last season. Pablo Galietero Diez scored on a penalty kick following a hand ball in the box, and LCU took the lead in the 53rd minute. Escobar assisted Sulahmana Bah to tie the game in the 59th minute.
