WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Freshmen
Dyamon Griggs and
Maya Kendall combined for 40 points to lead Midwestern State to an 83-77 win over Eastern New Mexico Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
HOW IT HAPPENED >>>
Midwestern State used a six-point possession at the beginning of the second half to construct a double-digit lead.
Eastern New Mexico was whistled for a technical foul for having six players on the floor following a substitution allowing for MSU's
Natalie Stice to hit four consecutive free throws, then
Jordan Mathis hit a runner down the left side of the paint give the Mustangs a 45-33 lead with 8:16 remaining in the period.
The Greyhounds answered with a layup before
Kennedi Green and
Dyamon Griggs hit consecutive layups before Stice drilled a triple from the left wing to give MSU its largest lead of the game at 52-35.
But Eastern New Mexico charged back to within two twice in the fourth period before Griggs spurred a 7-0 run for the Mustangs with a layup and two free throws then
Eternity Jackson banked a 3-pointer off of the corner of the backboard to restore a 77-68 advantage with 1:43 to play.

- Midwestern State freshman
Dyamon Griggs matched a career high with 26 points and polished off her fourth collegiate double-double with 12 points. She also scored 26 points earlier this season against St. Mary's and West Texas A&M.
- MSU freshman
Maya Kendall doubled her career by scoring 14 points -- all in the first half -- including a trio of 3-pointers.
- MSU junior
Natalie Stice finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists against her former team. It was ninth double-digit scoring performance of the season.
- Midwestern State guard
Kennedi Green added 10 points, six assists, and four rebounds.
- Eastern New Mexico junior Deja Adrian poured in a season-high 28 points and completed her fourth double-double with 10 rebounds.
GAME NOTES >>>
- Midwestern State snapped a three-game slide to improve to 4-11 on the season, while improving to 2-7 in LSC play.
- The Mustangs won their third straight game over Eastern New Mexico at D.L. Ligon Coliseum where they ave won nine of the last 10 dating bck to the 2010-11 season.
- Midwestern State leads the overall series against ENMU, 30-23.
- Midwestern State matched a season high with 83 points which was also the most surrendered by Eastern New Mexico this season.
