Midwestern State looks to derail Greyhounds

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Eastern New Mexico arrives at D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Saturday with a five-game winning streak, but Midwestern State has won five of its last six games and is seeking a third-straight victory in its series with the Greyhounds. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.

LAST MEETING | Pierre Sanders matched a career high with 21 points and Midwestern State turned up the defensive intensity to roll past Eastern New Mexico 71-49 last season at Greyhound Arena. MSU limited Eastern New Mexico to 37.9 percent shooting as the Greyhounds managed 49 points on 58 shots, and the Mustangs claimed their most lopsided road victory in nearly two seasons. Jermane Carter chipped in 13 points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Luke Hamilton buried two 3-pointers to finish with eight points.

LAST TIME OUT | Derrick Ogechi continued to round into form Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum pouring in four 3-pointers on the way to a 16-point, four-rebound, and four-assist performance to Midwestern State to its fifth win in the last six games by taking down Western New Mexico, 70-60. Midwestern State dominated the first half on both ends of the floor to take a 37-17 lead into the break. MSU limited WNMU to 7-of-25 shooting (28 percent), while shooting 50 percent from the field (15-of-30) with five 3-pointers. Midwestern followed a pair of 7-0 spurts with an 8-0 run ignited with a pair of triples from redshirt-freshman Mason Gibson to run out to a 29-10 lead with 6:21 remaining in the opening half. MSU led by as many as 22 points in the opening half allowing the Mustangs to hold of WNMU's furious second half rally to secure the win.
