Mustangs fall to Lubbock Christian, 61-37

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Lubbock Christian used a strong third period to roll to a 61-37 win over Midwestern State Thursday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED >>>

Lubbock Christian outscored Midwestern State 21-3 in a decisive third period to take full control of the game.

MSU freshman Dyamon Griggs, who led the Mustangs with 10 first-half points, was charged with consecutive player control fouls at the beginning of the second half then compounded the issue with a technical foul just 1:09 into the third period.

The Lady Chaps limited the Mustangs to one field goal in the period and that came on an Eternity Jackson jumper with 13 seconds remaining.

Meanwhile, LCU connected on 6-of-13 shots with a pair of 3-pointers and connected on seven free throws to expand the lead to as many as 30 points.

- Midwestern State freshman Dyamon Griggs was the lone Mustangs in double figures finishing with 17 points and six rebounds. It was her 10th game this season scoring in double figures.
- Lubbock Christian sophomore Grace Foster paced the Lady Chaps with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting with five rebounds and two blocked shots.
- LCU sophomore Shayle Stovall hit two 3-pointers finishing in double figures for her third consecutive game with 11 points.

GAME NOTES >>>

- Midwestern State fell to 5-15 on the season and 3-11 in Lone Star Conference play. The Mustangs are now 4-7 on their home floor this season.
- Lubbock Christian snapped a three-game road slide to improve to 14-7 on the season and 9-4 in league play.
- The Lady Chaps won for just the second time at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. It was LCU's second-straight win under the dome after losing on its first 14 trips to Wichita Falls.
- Midwestern State finished with a season low eight turnovers. The previous low of 13 came in an 80-72 win at UC-Colorado Springs on Nov. 12.
- The Mustangs shot a season low 20.4 percent from the field.
