ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- Texas A&M-Kingsville's Matisen Onofrei drove in four runs and Carissa De Los Santos pitched a one-hitter to lead the 20th-ranked Javelinas to an 11-0 win in five innings over Midwestern State Sunday afternoon at Dee White Field.
Texas A&M-Kingsville extended its winning streak to 12 games to improve to 12-1, while the Mustangs lost their sixth straight to fall to 1-8.
TURNING POINT
Texas A&M-Kingsville scored five runs on six hits in the first inning keyed by Matisen Onofrei's three-run double down the left-field line.
The Javelinas added two runs in the second in the second inning, then sophomore Aaliyah Ortiz drilled a two-run home run to highlight a three-run fourth inning as Texas A&M-Kingsville pushed the lead to 10 runs.
LEADERS
- Junior
Payton Griffin accounted for Midwestern State's lone hit of the game on a single up the middle with two outs in the first inning. Griffin led the Mustangs by hitting .375 (3-for-8) at the HSU/OBU Tournament. She also drew three walks against Ouachita Baptist to post a .545 on-base percentage.
- Junior
Ashley Turner had her 10-game hitting streak snapped by going 0-for-1. She did extend her streak of reaching base to 13 consecutive games dating back to last season by drawing a leadoff walk in the first inning.
- Sophomore
Kennedy Cameron posted a 1.45 ERA allowing two earned runs on nine hits in two appearances over the weekend at the HSU/OBU Tournament. She struck out nine and allowed a .231 opponent batting average.
- Texas A&M-Kingsville starter Carissa De Los Santos secured her second shutout of the season allowing one hit in the five inning complete game. She walked two and hit one batter. The freshman from Kingsville lowered her season ERA to 0.41 allowed one run on six hits in 17 innings. De Los Santos has logged 20 strikeouts and two walks in 17 innings.
- Texas A&M-Kingsville's Matisen Onofrei extended her hitting streak to nine games by going 3-for-3 against Midwestern State to raise her season average to .579 with six doubles, three homers and 11 RBIs.
