EDMOND, Okla. -- Central Oklahoma's Jacee Minter used three doubles to drive in four runs and Kylee Lynch weaved a two-hitter to lift the 20th-ranked Bronchos to a 9-0 win in five innings over Midwestern State Friday afternoon at Gerry Pinkston Field.
Ashley Turner extended her streak of reaching base to eight games with a single up the middle in the fourth inning, while freshman
Sabrina Graf recorded her first collegiate hit on a leadoff single to right field in the fifth to account for the whole of MSU's attack.
Turner reached base in her six games last season and has now recorded a hit in her last four regular season games.
But it wasn't enough to overcome Minter and the Bronchos, which improved to 4-2 on the season.
The sophomore left fielder drove in the first two runs of the game on a double to the left-field gap in the first inning, then repeated the feat to the same spot to push UCO to 4-0 lead before Amelya Huggins blasted a two-run homer to left field to finish off a four-run frame.
Minter, a second-team All-MIAA performer last spring, keyed another four-run inning in the fourth with a double down the right-field line to help stake UCO to a 9-0 lead.
Central Oklahoma sophomore Kylee Lynch polished off her fifth collegiate shutout to improve to 3-0. She didn't record a strikeout and permitted a pair of walks.
Sophomore
Kennedy Cameron (0-1) allowed nine earned on nine hits and five walks to take the loss for Midwestern State. She recorded two strikeouts.
Midwestern State plays two more games at the Edmond Regional Festival on Saturday. The Mustangs face Southwestern Oklahoma State at Oklahoma Christian's Tom Heath Field beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Mustangs then return to Pinkston Field to take on Fort Hays State (Kan.). First pitch against the Tigers is set for 3 p.m.
