LAST MEETING | Midwestern State limited St. Edward's to its lowest scoring output in nine years to battle their way to a 60-50 win. It was the fewest points for the Hilltoppers since a Chris Beard-coached McMurry squad beat SEU 59-49 on Feb. 2, 2013. MSU's defensive effort resulted in the worst shooting night of the season for St. Edward's, which shot 30 percent from the field (18-of-60) while equaling its worst effort from the arc (5-of-29 / 17.2 percent). Meanwhile, Jermane Carter delivered an efficient performance going 8-of-11 from the field knocking down a season-best four 3-pointers to book a game-high 20 points. Jordan Teal finished with 15 points and nine rebounds in the victory, which ended a four-game skid for the Mustangs.

LAST TIME OUT | Marquis Davison splashed in a collegiate-high 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds in a 76-56 loss in Lone Star Conference play Friday night at Louise Herrington Patriot Center. Davison scored the first seven points for Midwestern State to help the Mustangs construct a seven-point lead at 11-4 just over five minutes into the game. The Mustangs shot 14-of-26 (53.8 percent) in the second half and finished above the 40-percent mark for the fourth consecutive game at 40.4 percent. Midwestern State connected on just two 3-pointers on 20 attempts for the game. It was the fewest since the Mustangs went 2-for-17 at Lubbock Christian on Feb. 3, 2022. MSU was 8 of 9 at the free-throw line after going 5 of 6 in a two-point loss at DBU two nights earlier.
