Griggs erupts for 26 points in loss at No. 5 West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas – Freshman Dyamon Griggs matched a career high with 26 points, but it wasn't enough to undo a hot shooting night by the No. 5-ranked West Texas A&M.
 
The Lady Buffs buried 12 3-pointers to roll to an 87-71 win Friday night at First United Bank Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED >>>

West Texas A&M closed the first half on a 13-4 run fueled by two triples by Zamorye Roberts and another by Azia Himeur to extended its least to 18 taking a 51-33 advantage into the break.
 
The Lady Buffs led by as many as 28 points in the third quarter before the Mustangs closed the advantage in the fourth.

- Midwestern State freshman Dyamon Griggs connected on 9-of-15 from the floor and went 8-of-10 from the charity stripe match a season and career high with 26 points. The Waco native also scored 26 points against St. Mary's last month and is averaging 21.3 points over her last four games.
- MSU sophomore Yasmine Sifaoui was 4-of-5 from the field scoring in double figures for the second time this season with 10 points.
- Redshirt-freshman Maya Kendall scored seven points, grabbed three rebounds, and had two steals in the fourth period as the Mustangs outscored WT, 27-16.
- Seniors Eternity Jackson and Sheridan Bostic bombed in two 3-pointers each for the Mustangs.
- West Texas A&M senior Zamorye Roberts led a group of four Lady Buffs in double figures.
- The WT bench fired in 8-of-17 3-pointers including three from Azia Himeur, two from Zoey McBroom and Kyla Kane, and one from McKauley Gregory.

GAME NOTES >>>

- West Texas A&M claimed its ninth consecutive win over the Mustangs at First United Bank Center.
- The Lady Buffs knocked down double-digit 3-pointers for the third time this season going 12-of-23 (52.2 percent). WT hit 17-of-30 from 3-point range to shoot 56.7 percent against Texas A&M International on Dec. 10.
- Midwestern State shot a season-best 47.4 as a team from the field.
