The win snapped a two-game slide for MSU as the Mustangs improved to 2-4 since the Christmas Break... The Mustangs have held their last five opponents to under their season scoring averages... MSU ranks fourth in the LSC in scoring defense during league play limiting the opposition to 64.7 points per game... HEAD COACH JUSTIN LESLIE is in his third season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's basketball program. The Mustangs battled to an 8-21 mark in 2019-20 but closed the regular season by winning four out of five games to qualify for the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament. MSU also closed the 2020-21 regular season with four straight wins advancing the LSC Postseason Tournament for the second straight year with an 11-8 overall record. Prior to MSU, Leslie posted a 266-121 overall record (.687) at Azusa Pacific leading the Cougars to nine 20-win campaigns, two Pacific West Conference titles, seven postseason tournament appearance and an NCAA Division II Elite Eight showing in 2015. Overall, Leslie owns a 291-161 mark (.644) in 15 seasons as a collegiate head coach including a 25-40 record (.385) at MSU.

Dallas Baptist ride a four-game winning streak -- all in Lone Star Conference play -- into Saturday's game against Midwestern State... The Patriots are 81-15 (.844) at the Burg Center since the start of the 2015-16 campaign, but are 6-4 this season... The four losses are the most for DBU on its home floor since posting a 9-5 mark at Burg Center in 2014-15... DBU is one of the most opportunistic teams in the LSC ranking second in the league and 13th in NCAA Division II with a +4.6 turnover margin... The Patriots force 17.12 turnovers per game (2nd in LSC/19th in D2) fueled by 8.6 steals per game (2nd in LSC/38th in D2)... HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER owns a 292-182-2 (.616) record in his 16th season as at the helm of the Dallas Baptist men's basketball program. He has guided the Patriots to six NCAA Division II South Central Region appearances including postseason runs in each of the last four seasons. Flickner led DBU to Heartland Conference regular season titles in 2017 and 2018 and league postseason championships in 2016 and 2018. The Patriots have topped the 20-win plateau in seven of Flickner's 15 seasons leading the program.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Dallas Baptist meet for the 51st time on the hardwood Saturday afternoon at Burg Center. The Mustangs own a 27-23 edge in the series which dates back to the 1968-69 season. DBU, however, has won each of the five meetings played since the series resumed with the 2008-09 season opener. It will be the fifth straight game of the series played in Dallas. The Patriots rolled to a 102-72 win in the first Lone Star Conference meeting between the programs on Feb. 8, 2020. DBU squeezed a regular season sweep of the Mustangs claiming 81-80 and 91-90 victories on consecutive days (Jan. 22 and Jan. 23, 2021) last season before taking a 76-55 win in the opening round of the LSC Postseason Tournament on March 2, 2021. Gume Ibarra's 24-point, 9-rebound performance helped MSU to its last win over DBU on Feb. 24, 1990 in Dallas. The Indians won 86-69.
