HEAD COACH JUSTIN LESLIE is in his third season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's basketball program. The Mustangs battled to an 8-21 mark in 2019-20 but closed the regular season by winning four out of five games to qualify for the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament. MSU also closed the 2020-21 regular season with four straight wins advancing the LSC Postseason Tournament for the second straight year with an 11-8 overall record. Prior to MSU, Leslie posted a 266-121 overall record (.687) at Azusa Pacific leading the Cougars to nine 20-win campaigns, two Pacific West Conference titles, seven postseason tournament appearance and an NCAA Division II Elite Eight showing in 2015. Overall, Leslie owns a 290-160 mark (.644) in 15 seasons as a collegiate head coach including a 24-39 record (.381) at MSU.

Angelo State sports a 10-3 record and is 0-1 in Lone Star Conference play... HEAD COACH CINCO BOONE sports a 120-60 record (.667) in his seventh season at the helm at Angelo State. Boone led the Rams to NCAA Division II South Central Region showings in 2016, 2019 and 2020 advancing to the finals in 2016. ASU has won at least 20 games in in three of Boone's six years as head coach.
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Angelo State meet for the 83rd time on the hardwood Thursday night at Junell Center. The Mustangs own a 49-33 edge in the series which dates back to the 1965-66 season have won the last two meetings -- both in Wichita Falls. MSU, however, has lost its last six games against the Rams in Junell Center with the Mustangs' last victory coming on Jan. 5, 2013 (65-55). MSU is 7-10 at Junell Center since the facility opened on Jan. 17, 2002. Midwestern State's series with Angelo State is the sixth longest in program history and third longest active series behind Texas A&M-Commerce (96) and Cameron (84).
