Midwestern State returns to D.L. Ligon for the first time since beating Central Oklahoma -- 86-65 -- on Nov. 20... The Mustangs were 2-4 in the six road/neutral site games since the win over UCO, but has won two of the last three... MSU overcame second-half deficits of eight points against Cameron and 10 at Arkansas-Fort Smith to win two of its last three road games... In its five losses this season, the Mustangs have not led by more the four points after the 12-minute media timeout of the first half and have not held a lead of greater than two points after the first 90 seconds in four of the five losses... MSU snapped a run of five games of shooting worse than 40 percent by going 43.4 percent from the field in Friday's win at UAFS... The Mustangs 51.9 percent (14-of-27) in the second half against UAFS to overcome a 10-point deficit... MSU has shot 50 percent or better in five of 18 halves this season and are 2-2 in games in which it shot at least 50 percent from the floor in at least one half of the game... Midwestern State leads the Lone Star Conference with 15.25 offensive rebounds per game resulting in an average of 12.6 second-chance points per game... MSU won the battle on the glass in five of nine games this season and have not been out-rebounded by more than three... HEAD COACH JUSTIN LESLIE is in his third season at the helm of the Midwestern State men's basketball program. The Mustangs battled to an 8-21 mark in 2019-20 but closed the regular season by winning four out of five games to qualify for the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament. MSU also closed the 2020-21 regular season with four straight wins advancing the LSC Postseason Tournament for the second straight year with an 11-8 overall record. Prior to MSU, Leslie posted a 266-121 overall record (.687) at Azusa Pacific leading the Cougars to nine 20-win campaigns, two Pacific West Conference titles, seven postseason tournament appearance and an NCAA Division II Elite Eight showing in 2015. Overall, Leslie owns a 289-155 mark (.651) in 15 seasons as a collegiate head coach including a 23-34 record (.404) at MSU.

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS

UT Tyler is one of 11 unbeaten teams in NCAA Division II and one of three in the Lone Star Conference... currently receiving votes in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' (NABC) for first time in program history at the D2 level... is off to the best start (6-0) since starting the 2017-18 season with seven straight wins... Patriots have won 16 of their last 17 games dating back to last season... leads the Lone Star Conference ranks 11th in NCAA Division II in assists per game (19.2), field goal percentage (52.5) and 3-point field goal percentage (41.9)... leads league and ranks seventh nationally in rebound margin (+10.2)... also tops LSC in scoring margin (+28.9)... graduate senior guard Micah Fuller is one of three UT Tyler players scoring in doubles figures leading the team at 12.8 points per game... Fuller has scored in double figures in all six games with a high of 17 against Ouachita Baptist... senior guard Da'Zhon Wyche scores 11.5 points per game and is coming off of back-to-back 19-point efforts against Mississippi College and Dallas Baptist... graduate senior forward Eysan Wiley adds 11.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 71.8 percent from the floor (28-of-39)...

HEAD COACH LOUIS WILSON is 26-39 (.473) in his third season at the helm of the UT Tyler men's basketball program. He guided the Patriots to wins in 10 of their final 11 games in 2020-21 to finish the campaign with a winning 12-10 mark. Wilson enjoyed a stellar five-year run at Adams State from 2010-15 posting a 95-46 mark (.674) leading the Grizzlies to three consecutive NCAA Division II regional appearances. Wilson served as an associate head coach at California State-Northridge from 2006-10 and at Grand Canyon in 2018-19. He has vast experience as a Division I assistant at Southern Utah (1992-98), Idaho State (1998-06) and Utah State (2015-18). Ironically, Wilson and women's head coach Rebecca Alvidrez occupied the same roles at Adams State during the 2013-14 season.

ABOUT THE SERIES

Midwestern State and UT Tyler meet for the fifth time on the hardwood Monday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs own a 3-1 edge in the series which dates back to the 2019-20 season. UT Tyler won the last meeting by a 92-66 score on Jan. 16, 2021 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum for the lone victory over MSU.
