WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Juniors
Christyn Smith and
Elizabeth Butzke paced Midwestern State to a runner-up showing in the Mustangs Invitational Saturday morning at Lake Wichita Park.
Smith earned frontrunner honors for the first time in her collegiate career covering the 5,000-meter course in 19:04.6 to finish fifth, while Butzke ran a personal best time of 19:05.9 to take sixth.
Senior
Victoria Rosas continued her stellar run through the fall by taking 12th with a time of 19:39.9, while senior
Alexandra Feller ran a personal best time of 19:56.2 to take 17th.
Fellow senior
Delaney Locke claimed 32nd to lock up the Mustangs' final countable performance with a time of 20:36.00.
In all, MSU totaled 72 points to finish behind Oklahoma City, which piled up 57 points.
Oklahoma City's Jacinda Kwambai claimed the individual title with a time of 18:52.00.
Freshmen
Addilyn Keys (20:38.4/32nd) and
Nathalia Escontrias (21:21.6/42nd) also set personal best times, while freshman
Presley Wall (21:06.1) and sophomore
Brayleigh McGill (21:07.4) finished 39th and 41st, respectively.
Midwestern State competes in the Angelo State Blue & Gold Classic Wednesday afternoon in San Angelo.
