Mustangs wrap up ITA Indoor Team Championship with 4-1 loss

Bradshaw earns lone win for MSU Texas

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Facing a ranked opponent for the third straight day, Midwestern State fell 4-1 to Flagler (Fla.) on Sunday morning on the final day of the ITA Indoor Team Championship held at the OKC Tennis Center.

"To get to compete against the best in college tennis is a unique experience," MSU Texas head coach Scott Linn said. "Next year, we look forward to competing even better. I want to thank Jim McCoy, Dr. Dave Flack, Tommy McCulloch, Brad Altman, George Beloretchki, Union Square, and the WFCC Tennis Pros and Members for all of their financial support that allowed us to host this prestigious national event."

For the second time in two days, Midwestern State lost the doubles point in heartbreaking fashion, losing the tiebreaker at number one 7-6 (7-0).

Brice Bradshaw evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at number six.

Felipe Carvalho handed the Saints a 2-1 lead when the senior defeated Jean Muniz 6-3, 6-2 at number five.

Flagler College (Fla.) took a commanding 3-1 lead following Jiri Jenicek's straight set win over Alberto Diaz in number three singles.

The Saints clinched the victory when No. 47 Luca Bolla dealt No. 5 Angel Palacios a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 loss at the top spot.

In unfinished matches, No. 43 Alex Martinez Roca dropped the first set to Rodrigo Carvalho 6-7 (7-3) and was trailing in the second set 4-5 while freshman Alexandre Crepy was locked in a thriller at number five against Rasmus Jonsson. Crepy won the first set 6-4, then fell 4-6 before racing out to a 3-0 lead in the deciding set.

"This was a great opportunity this weekend for the men's team," Linn said. "Freshmen Alexandre Crepy and Brice Bradshaw really stepped up today and Alex Martinez Roca played well all weekend."

The Mustangs (4-7) finished 0-3 at the ITA Indoor Team Championship and have dropped a season-high five straight matches.
