OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Midwestern State's Alex Martinez Roca earned a top 50 win in a 4-1 loss to No. 4 Wingate (N.C.) on Saturday afternoon in a consolation round match at the ITA Indoor Team Championship held at the OKC Tennis Center.

Martinez Roca, ranked No. 43 in singles, made quick work of No. 50 Roy Stepanov at the number two line 6-4, 6-1. 

"It was a good finish by Alex (Martinez Roca)," MSU Texas head coach Scott Linn said. "There's an opportunity tomorrow for MSU Texas tennis."

Wingate's 5th ranked tandem of Daniel Belsito/Joseph Canyadell defeated Ben/Westwick/Angel Palacios 6-0 at the top line in doubles before Enrico Giacomini/Matt Jones secured the doubles point for the Bulldogs with a win over Jean Muniz/Brice Bradshaw at the number three spot.

"We need to serve and return better in doubles," Linn said. 

The Bulldogs rattled off wins at number three and number four in singles before Martinez Roca's win helped the Mustangs get on the board. 

Wingate clinched the win when Tolunay Sumer downed Jean Muniz 6-3, 6-3 at number five.

In a top 10 clash in singles, No. 5 Palacios trailed No. 6 Belsito 0-6, 5-5 at number one and Brice Bradshaw trailed Christian D. Cioppa at number six 3-6, 1-4. Both matches were unfinished.
