WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The Mustangs close out the home portion of their schedule on Saturday afternoon inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum with a senior day showdown against Oklahoma Christian. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Midwestern State rallied for a 75-70 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Thursday night. Down 53-43 in the third quarter and without a point in nearly six minutes, the Mustangs went to work on the defensive end, keeping Arkansas-Fort Smith without a point for nearly four minutes. The Mustangs parlayed their defensive prowess into a 14-4 run to tie the game at 57-57 heading into the fourth. The teams traded baskets early in the fourth quarter until Elizabeth Cathcart hit a pair of free throws with 4:53 remaining to give MSU Texas a 68-66 lead. The Mustangs scored the next five points, highlighted by a Mica Schneider three that pushed the lead to seven at 73-66. The Lions would get no closer than four points the rest of the way. Schneider continued her torrid pace, finishing with 21 points. It marked the third straight game the senior has scored at least 20. Hannah Reynolds added 12 points and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line while Cathcart knocked in 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.

PLAYOFF RACE HEATING UP
Midwestern State moved into sole possession of 11th place in the Lone Star Conference standings after Thursday's win over Arkansas-Fort Smith.  UT Tyler is ineligible for the playoffs as they transition from Division III to Division II.

SERIES HISTORY

Oklahoma Christian grabbed an 8-5 lead in the all-time series after an 89-73 win earlier this season. OC has won the last two meetings and three of the last five. The Mustangs last win in the series came in 2017, a 72-68 victory in Wichita Falls. 

MICA THE MAGNIFICENT
Mica Schneider continued her torrid pace on Thursday, scoring 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting. The senior has scored 20 or more points in each of the last three games and is averaging 25.8 PPG over her last four home games (103 total points). 

CONSISTENT CATHCART
Elizabeth Cathcart reached double figures on Thursday for the 19th time this season. The senior scored 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting and is averaging 13.0 PPG over the last three games. 

LSC TOP 10
Midwestern State is well represented on the Lone Star Conference leaderboards. Elizabeth Cathcart (13.4 PPG) sits ninth in the LSC in scoring and fifth in field goal percentage (.453) while Mica Schneider sits sixth in assists per game at 3.7 and second in assist/turnover ratio at 2.0 (86/44). Frances King ranks eighth in the conference with 3.3 APG. 

SENIOR DAY SENDOFF
Midwestern State will honor four seniors on Saturday in Courtney Kerr, Elizabeth Cathcart, Erin Alexander, and Mica Schneider. Kerr has appeared in 20 games this season and 86 games in her career. This season, the Paradise, Texas native is averaging 1.8 PPG (2.3 PPG in her career). Elizabeth Cathcart leads MSU Texas in scoring at 13.4 PPG and has played in 23 games. The Spring Branch, Texas native has appeared in 91 games in her career (9.3 PPG in her career). Erin Alexander has appeared in just eight games this season due to injury but was extremely productive when on the floor, averaging 4.0 PPG and 3.9 RPG. A transfer from Cloud County Community College (Kan.), Alexander has appeared in 18 games since her arrival on campus. Mica Schneider rounds out the quarter of seniors set to be honored. The Boerne, Texas native is set to appear in the 104th game of her career on Saturday. This season, Schneider has appeared in 23 games and is averaging 12.4 PPG.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Oklahoma Christian suffered their third straight loss on Thursday night, falling to Cameron, 79-58. The Eagles led by three at the half before being outscored 50-28 in the second half. Megan Shelton led OC with 13 points in 37 minutes. Shelton is the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.1 PPG while Maddison Collyer (10.9 PPG) and Katie Mayo (10.7 PPG) also average in double figures. Collyer ranks 18th in all of Division II and first in the Lone Star Conference with 5.2 APG. Defensively, the Eagles allow the second most points per game in the LSC at 74.0PPG (MSU Texas allows the third most at 73.4 PPG).

ABOUT THE FIRST TIME
The Oklahoma Christian Eagles turned in a near flawless second half performance from deep, hitting 9-of-12 attempts to run away from a shorthanded Midwestern State squad, 89-73, on January 23. Playing without Courtney KerrErin Alexander, and Hannah Reynolds, who all missed the game due to injury, Midwestern State watched OC shoot 11-of-17 from deep. The Eagles, who entered the night shooting just 28% from distance, drilled five straight three-pointers at one point during the second half. MSU Texas whittled down a 12-point second quarter deficit to 42-37 at the break behind a 12-5 run. Mica Schneider scored all 12 of her points in the second period. Reigning Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week Elizabeth Cathcart scored 12 of her game-high 20 points in the first half. Haevyn Risley finished with 13 points, six rebounds, six assists, six steals, and two blocks. Kendall Blackburn and Megan Shelton each scored 16 points for OC.
 
UP NEXT
The Mustangs head to Canyon, Texas on February 27 for a meeting with West Texas A&M. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
