Storylines
First Serve
Midwestern State looks to avenge a midseason loss to Northwest Missouri State in the NCAA DII Round of 16. The No. 7 seeded Mustangs make their eighth appearance in the Round of 16 at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22 at the Sanlando Park Tennis Center in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The victor moves on to face either Indianapolis or Goldey-Beacom in the national quarterfinals at 8 a.m. on Thursday.
Last Time Out
Junior
Juliette Mary won the final match standing in a three-set thriller to keep the season alive as MSU Texas rattled St. Mary's, 4-3, in the Round of 32.
Second Time Around
NWMSU knocked off the Maroon and Gold, 5-2, on March 24 at the MSU Tennis Center. The Bearcats caught the Mustangs at the end of a four day, four-match stretch that ran from Tyler to Missouri and back to Wichita Falls.
Wednesday's meeting should feature nine new matchups as both teams have altered their lineup since the first go-round.

Tourney History
MSU makes its eighth appearance at the NCAA Championship site and fifth trip in the last six seasons. The Mustangs previously advanced to the national quarterfinals in 2015 and 2017.

MSU remained in the top 15, falling two spots to No. 14 in the Oracle/ITA National Team rankings released prior to the NCAA Tournament.

Midwestern State won its fifth LSC Postseason Tournament title in the last six seasons with a 4-1 victory against 34th-ranked Tarleton State on Saturday at the Waco Regional Tennis Center.
MSU eclipses the 20-win plateau for the seventh time in program history with its third-straight league tournament crown. The Maroon and Gold previously won the LSC's championship in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018.

Coach
Scott Linn garnered the conference's coach of the year honors for the third-straight season. Midwestern State eclipsed the 20-win plateau for the seventh time in school history and won its fifth league postseason title in the last six seasons.
MSU Collects 500th Program Win
Midwestern State collected win No. 500 in program history on April 16 against Oklahoma Baptist. The Mustangs (507-334-3) became the seventh MSU Texas program to eclipse the 500-win plateau.
Lazzarotto Wins Prestigious Elite 90
Senior
Greta Lazzarotto became Midwestern State's first recipient of the Elite 90 award, presented Monday evening at the 2019 NCAA DII Women's Tennis banquet in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
The three-time Lone Star Conference Academic Player of the Year and two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection boasts a 4.0 GPA in Management.
Doubles Decider
The doubles point has proved to be decisive for the Mustangs this season. MSU is 17-1 when grabbing the early edge and 4-5 when falling into a hole.
After dropping the point in seven-straight, the Maroon and Gold have taken the point in 13 of the last 15 contests.

Ashley Ramirez climbed into the top-10 after just three weeks, winning 12 of their last 13 matches.

Senior
Greta Lazzarotto supplanted herself atop the MSU Texas career wins chart on April 14 against Texas A&M-Kingsville, passing Lacey Wuthrich (2002-05) with win No. 139. Lazzarotto bested Phoephathep Philavong, 6-1, 6-3, in singles to break the record.
The Italian passed Brooke Gray (2000-03) for the most career doubles wins on March 30 against Arkansas-Fort Smith. Partnered with freshman
Casie Curry, the tandem closed out a tiebreaker against the Lions to lock up the historic win.
Lazzarotto ranks fourth all-time with 59 career singles wins and is six away from breaking Wuthrich's program-record of 64.

Bianca Duff collected her 100th career victory in a three-set thriller with Lisa Carvajal at the No. 1 line on April 14. Junior
