WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State closes out the 2019 campaign with a three-game set against Eastern New Mexico. First pitch in Friday's series opening doubleheader is slated for 3 p.m. before Saturday's season finale at noon.
 
Storylines
Mark Ryal Era Continues
Mark Ryal continues his third season as the head coach of the Maroon and Gold. The former Major Leaguer has led the Mustangs to a 53-69 (.434) record and a pair of ninth place finishes in the LSC. Ryal picked up his 50th in the Maroon and Gold in the win on March 21 over Texas Woman's.
 
Last Time Out
MSU Texas dropped all three games on the road to third-ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville.
 
Finish in the Win Column
The Mustangs have an opportunity to finish above .500 for the first time since the 2016 team finished 30-28 with a series win over the Greyhounds.
 
Home Cooking
The Mustangs have been dominant at Mustangs Park this season, posting a 14-2 record at home while not dropping a series.
 
Offensively, MSU boasts a .310 average at home while slugging at a .506 clip with 5.13 runs per game. In the circle, the Maroon and Gold on a 1.72 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP while holding hitters to a .201 average.
 
With a sweep, Midwestern can match its most home wins since the 2014 season.
 
Senior Send-Off
MSU honors five seniors who will be playing their final collegiate games on Saturday. Misty Muniz, Carli Woolsey, Tucker Caraway, Abbie Lancaster and Jenna Hering don the Maroon and Gold for the final time.
 
Misty Muniz has been a four-year contributor with the Mustangs since arriving on campus in 2016. The Seabrook, Texas, native owns a career .230 average with 11 homers and 49 RBI. This season, she matched the program's single-game RBI record, driving home seven in the season opener against Southern Nazarene. The right-hander has excelled since transitioning to the circle this season as one of the top pitchers in the LSC. With 7.87 strikeouts per game, she ranks No. 3 in team history while holding hitters to a .216 average.
 
Carli Woolsey has seen a power-surge in her final year at MSU, posting career-highs in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs and RBI. She climbed into the top 15 in team history with a career .500 slugging percentage and is the first player with 20 career homers since the 2016 season. She singlehandedly won the game for the Mustangs with her first multi-home run performance in a 2-0 win over Texas Woman's.
 
Tucker Caraway made an immediate impact since stepping on the field in 2018. The Whitewright product has seen time as a two-way player, hitting .284 in 76 games while picking up three wins in the circle. A speedster on the basepaths, she ranks seventh all-time with five triples and has swiped 11 bags in two years. Her plate vision has been exceptional this season, ranking fourth in the LSC with 29 walks.
 
Abbie Lancaster broke the single-season saves record in 2018, closing out five wins for the Mustangs, including an upset of 11th-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce. The Idabel, Okla., native has posted a 14-13 record with a 3.37 ERA with three shutouts and seven saves. She recorded her 100th career strikeout in a nine K performance against UTPB. Holding hitters to a .250 average, Lancaster ranks as the sixth-lowest opponent average in team history.
 
Jenna Hering made her collegiate debut this season after serving as an athletic trainer with MSU Texas. The Watertown, Wisc., native made her debut on the road at Angelo State where she was hit-by-pitch. In her first career start, she drove an RBI single to right against UTPB for her first career hit.
