Storylines
Mark Ryal Era Continues
Mark Ryal continues his third season as the head coach of the Maroon and Gold. The former Major Leaguer has led the Mustangs to a 43-59 (.422) record and a pair of ninth place finishes in the LSC.

Home Magic?
MSU Texas won its first home Lone Star Conference series after taking 2-of-3 from Cameron. It was the first home LSC series win since sweeping Western New Mexico from March 31-April 1, 2017.

The Mustangs have gone 4-1 at home this season, hitting .328 and averaging 6.2 runs per game.

Hard-Luck Losses
The Mustangs held No. 21 West Texas A&M to 12 hits in last weekend's series, but the offense never got rolling in the sweep. Misty Muniz limited the high-powered WT offense to a .182 average in 12.0 innings in the circle.

Same Foe, New Venue
MSU Texas and Western New Mexico met earlier this season on Feb. 2 in Lubbock with the Maroon and Gold taking a 9-1 win in five innings.

Lauren Lindgren (3-for-4, 1 R, 1 RBI), Kelsey Eropkin (2-for-4, 1 R) and Caycee Griffin (2-for-2, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI) logged multi-hit performances against the Mustangs. Carli Woolsey and Ashley Turner took WNMU starter Lyana Waddell deep before Griffin went yard on Julia Vega.

Misty Muniz earned the start and allowed one run on four hits with a walk and a strikeout over 2.0 innings of work. Abbie Lancaster tossed 3.0 one-hit innings to earn the win, recording a walk and a strikeout.

Mystical Misty
Senior Misty Muniz tossed the first shutout for the Maroon and Gold since March 18, 2017, snapping a 67-game stretch without keeping the opposition scoreless. The Seabrook native came one strike shy of a no-hitter before an infield single in the top of the fifth ended the bid.

At the plate, Muniz went 2-for-3 with five RBI, including a grand slam. She's hitting .310 on the season with four homers and 13 RBI while matching the program's single-game RBI record of seven in the season opener against Southern Nazarene.

Here Fishy Fishy
The Mustangs start freshmen at three critical defensive positions. Ashley Turner has started all 18 games at third base while Bailey Wamsley has caught every game this season. Daylan Inkman has gotten 16 starts at second base.

Turner leads the group with a .300 average to go along with a homer and five RBI at the plate.

Lindgren Picks Up Hit No. 100
Junior outfielder Lauren Lindgren recorded her 100th career hit in the top of the sixth in the Feb. 9 win over Missouri Southern. The Denton product drove a one-out RBI single back up the middle to score Eropkin and stretch the Mustangs lead to 4-1.
