Mark Ryal Era Continues
Mark Ryal continues his third season as the head coach of the Maroon and Gold. The former Major Leaguer has led the Mustangs to a 48-62 (.436) record and a pair of ninth place finishes in the LSC. Ryal is two wins away from his 50th in the Maroon and Gold.
 
Last Time Out
The Mustangs shut out Northwestern Oklahoma State in Tuesday's doubleheader. Senior Misty Muniz tossed her fourth one-hitter of the season while matching a career-best with 12 strikeouts in the opening 8-0 win. Junior Lauren Lindgren went a perfect 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Senior Abbie Lancaster hurled her second shutout of the year and fanning a career-best 10 in the 4-0 victory.
 
Home Cooking
MSU Texas tries to extend its seven-game home winning streak against the Pioneers. The Mustangs won two-of-three against Cameron before sweeping Western New Mexico and Northwestern Oklahoma State in the last three home series to improve to 9-1 at Mustangs Park.
 
The Mustangs are hitting .335 at home with 10 homers and averaging 5.8 runs per game. The biggest improvements have come in the circle. MSU Texas owns a 1.91 ERA at home and is holding opponents to a .143 average with 80 strikeouts.

Senior Misty Muniz became the first MSU Texas pitcher to record 100 strikeouts in a season since Laci Belovsky fanned 148 in 2013. The Seabrook, Texas, native has punched out at least seven batters in 10 of her last 11 starts. Muniz's 103 strikeouts are the second most in the LSC this season and 12^th most in DII, trailing Texas A&M-Kingsville's Saidi Castillo's 114.
