Tournament Scenarios
The Mustangs clinched the No. 6 seed in the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament as Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Kingsville each lost last night.
 
MSU Texas meets either Tarleton State, Eastern New Mexico or Texas A&M-Commerce at noon on Friday, March 8 at the Comerica Center in Frisco for the LSC Quarterfinals. The three teams are tied for the No. 3-5 seeds with a 13-6 league record.
 
The Mustangs would meet the TexAnns in the tourney should TSU win against UT Permian Basin on Saturday.
 
The LSC Postseason Tournament is set for March 7-10 at the Comerica Center in Frisco.
 
Seniors Don Maroon and Gold for Final Time
Seniors Chelcie Kizart and Anni Scholl compete at Ligon Coliseum for the final time on Saturday. Scholl has spent five seasons with the Mustangs, appearing in 101 career games while Kizart has been a staple in the MSU Texas lineup for each of the last two seasons.
 
Johnson Gets Win No. 150
Noel Johnson recorded her 150th career win at MSU Texas on Saturday with a 72-62 win over Texas Woman's at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. After becoming the winningest coach in program history on Dec. 19, 2017 in a 72-66 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Johnson became the first coach with 150 wins in the Maroon and Gold.

Out for Vengeance
Texas A&M-Kingsville was held without a field goal for the final six minutes, but converted 5-of-8 free throw opportunities down the stretch to regain the lead for good in a 71-67 win over the Mustangs on Jan. 24 at the Steinke Center.
 
MSU Texas took a 67-66 lead with 2:26 remaining on a 9-0 run. TAMUK's Brynae Thompson connected on a pair of free throws with 31 seconds to play to give the Javelinas the lead for good. Thompson finished with a game-high 22, going 10-of-14 from the free throw line.
 
Dome Magic
The Mustangs return to the friendly confines of D.L. Ligon Coliseum. After a 3-3 start under the Dome, MSU Texas won six-straight, picking up wins against UT Permian Basin (79-57), Western New Mexico (80-46), 14th-ranked West Texas A&M (66-61), Eastern New Mexico (75-71), Cameron (79-70) and Texas Woman's (72-62) before Angelo State ended the run.
 
The Maroon and Gold average 73.5 points per game at Ligon compared to 63.0 on the road. Defensively MSU Texas is allowing 58.8 points per game at home and 70.8 in road contests.
 
The six-game home winning streak by MSU Texas was the longest since the 2014-15 team won seven-straight from Nov. 18 to Jan. 7.
 
Offensively Speaking
The Mustangs average 68.8 points per game, the seventh highest in the LSC on 41.1 percent shooting to boast the fifth best field goal percentage in the LSC. The Maroon and Gold have shot above 40.0 percent in all but four home games this season.

MSU Texas leads the Lone Star Conference and ranks 12th nationally with 5.0 blocks per game. Defensively, the Maroon and Gold are holding opponents to 38.7 percent shooting from the floor this season, the fourth lowest in the LSC.
 
The Mustangs boast three of the top 11 single game team blocking performances (10 - vs. St. Mary's, 12/15/18; 9 - vs. UT Tyler, 12/19/18; 9 - vs. Texas A&M-Commerce, 1/3/19) while the 5.0 blocks per game would shatter the previous team record of 4.3 set in the 2014-15 season. MSU Texas has at least five blocks in 15 of 26 games this season.

Reynolds Keeps Climbing
Sophomore forward Hannah Reynolds continues to climb the MSU Texas all-time blocks list. The Prosper native sits in second all-time with 91 career rejections. She needs 48 blocks to pass Monica Miller's (1991-95) program record of 138.

All Midwestern State home games are set for broadcast on the Mustangs Digital Network both live and on demand at MSUMustangs.tv. Season passes are available for $30 while single games run $9 each.
