BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Midwestern State continues non-conference tournament play at the UAM D2 Challenge in Bentonville, Ark. The Mustangs face Northwest Missouri State on Saturday at 1 p.m. before meeting Missouri Southern State at 3 p.m. in the tournament finale.
 
Sunday's contests have been cancelled due to the threat of inclement weather.

Mark Ryal
Mark Ryal enters his third season as the head coach of the Maroon and Gold. The former Major Leaguer has led the Mustangs to a 38-51 (.427) record and a pair of ninth place finishes in the LSC.
 
Hot Starts
The Mustangs opened the season with a 4-1 start for the second-straight season under Mark Ryal.
 
Lindgren Eyes Hit No. 100
Junior outfielder Lauren Lindgren enters this weekend's tournament with 98 career hits. The Denton product is two away from eclipsing 100 in her stellar career in the Maroon and Gold. Lindgren was on fire the opening weekend, hitting .563 (9-for-16) with six RBI and two runs scored.
 
Griffin Matches 2018 Home Run Total
Sophomore Caycee Griffin matched her 2018 home run total in the fourth game of 2019. The Healdton, Okla., native was on a tear, hitting at a .429 (6-of-14) with three bombs and six RBI. Griffin slugged at an impressive 1.143 clip through the opening weekend.
 
Muniz Ties Single Game RBI Record
Senior Misty Muniz matched Chelsey Wall for the single game RBI record in the season opener. The Seabrook native recorded her first career multi-home run game, including a grand slam. Wall previously set the record against Northeastern State on Feb. 16, 2014.
 
LSC Poll
MSU Texas was projected to finish seventh in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. The Mustangs received 120 points to tie with Texas Woman's.
