WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State hosts Texas Wesleyan on Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
MSU leads the all-time series 31-19 but fell to Texas Wesleyan 58-54 last season in the Ashbrook Classic. Despite the loss, the Mustangs have posted a 14-3 mark over the last 17 meetings.
REYNOLDS RACKING UP THE AWARDS
Hannah Reynolds was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Ashbrook Classic after averaging 19.5 PPG. The junior forward scored 17 points against Westminster (Utah) before erupting for 22 points in 23 minutes against Dixie State. Reynolds was the second leading scorer at the Ashbrook Classic (Mariah Martin of Westminster averaged 22.0 PPG).
SOARING SHAWNISAY
Shawnisay Millar has quickly adjusted to the American style of Basketball, as the Scotland born forward scored 10 points in her collegiate debut. The next time out, the sophomore scored nine points while grabbing five rebounds to help MSU to a 10-point win over Dixie State on November 9.
MAGNIFICENT MICA
Mica Schneider joined
Hannah Reynolds on the All-Tournament Team at the Ashbrook Classic after averaging 14.0 PPG. Schneider scored in double figures in both games, pouring in a season-high 18 points while shooting 5-of-15 from the floor against Dixie State. The senior is averaging 5.5 assists per game.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH JOHNSON
Noel Johnson is in her 12th season as the Head Coach of the Midwestern State Women's Basketball team. Last season, Johnson led MSU to a 12-16 (9-11) mark and a sixth place finish in the Lone Star Conference South Division. Overall, the Mustangs have compiled a 152-155 (.495) record under Johnson's guidance. She became the winningest coach in program history on December 19, 2017 when MSU beat Texas A&M-Kingsville, 72-66.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Texas Wesleyan University, a NAIA school in Fort Worth, Texas is 2-1 on the season. The Rams have already played two Lone Star Conference schools this season, losing to Tarleton State (86-83) and Angelo State (78-68) in exhibitions. Saturday's game against MSU will also count as an exhibition for the Rams. Destiney Winkfield (17.7 PPG) and Nicole Gleason (13.0 PPG) have formed a 1-2 punch for TWU.
