WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State opens up its 16^th season of competition on Friday, Feb. 1 at the TAJ Hospitality College Softball Kickoff in Lubbock. The Mustangs face off with Southern Nazarene, Oklahoma Christian, Western New Mexico, Chadron State and Lubbock Christian throughout the weekend.
 
Storylines
Mark Ryal
Mark Ryal enters his third season as the head coach of the Maroon and Gold. The former Major Leaguer has led the Mustangs to a 34-50 (.405) record and a pair of ninth place finishes in the LSC.

The Mustangs welcomed seven newcomers to the program in the offseason in five freshman and two juniors. Catcher Jenna Hering and pitcher Jessica Clark (Daytona State) have two years of eligibility remaining while infielder Ashley Turner, pitcher Randi Dobbins, infielder Daylan Inkman, catcher Bailey Wamsley and infielder McKenzie Middlebrook look to make a splash in their frosh campaign.
