WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The All-American doubles tandem of Maddy Coffman and Ashley Ramirez claimed the women's Flight A crown while Alex Martinez Roca won the men's singles Flight B title on Saturday in the MSU Invitational. Juliette Mary earned the consolation title in women's singles Flight C and Nolan McCaig won the consolation bracket in men's singles Flight A.
 
Ramierz and Coffman knocked off Southwest Baptist's Klara Vickov and Jill Van Den Dungen in the finals, 8-4 after defeating Logan Morrissey and Alexis Czapinski of Washburn, 8-4 in the semifinals.
 
Coffman lost in the semifinal round of Flight A singles to Irene Recuenco of Northwest Missouri State in a three-set battle, 6-4, 2-6, 12-10. Greta Lazzarotto advanced to the championship of the consolation side of the bracket, defeating Taylor Leslie of Dallas Baptist, 7-6 (1), 6-2, before bowing out against Maria Aveiga of Seward County CC, 6-4, 4-6, 10-6.
 
In Flight B action on the women's side, Emilija Segetlija moved on to the title bout with a 7-6 (6), 1-6, 10-4 victory against Morrissey (WU), but dropped a tight contest to Diana Cabrera (SBU), 7-5, 6-4.
 
Lea Cizeron fell to Vickov (SBU) in the semifinals of Flight C, 6-1, 7-5 while Mary bested Eva Liu (SCCC) and Tess Lovig (NWMSU) to earn the consolation title in Flight D.
 
In exhibition play, Angela Vargas of Southern Arkansas defeated Taylor Gray, 8-4.
 
The men's doubles team of Ben Westwick and Alberto Diaz moved into the finals of Flight B, taking down Bradley Eidenmueller and Raul Dicu, 8-4. The pair was defeated in the finals by Francisco Vargas Sanchez and Carlo Izurieta (SCCC), 8-5. On the consolation side, Yaswanth Mylavarapu and Jean Muniz also moved into the final match by default before suffering a 9-7 setback to Jafer Infante and Edgar Fougerit (SCCC).
 
McCaig retired Raul Caballero (SBU) late in the first set before winning the Flight A consolation with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 decision over Nicolas Rousset (SCCC).
 
Martinez Roca dropped Carlos Corser (SBU) 4-6, 6-2, 10-4, and Oscar del Granado of Cameron, 2-6, 6-3, 14-12 en-route to the Flight B crown. Jean Muniz fell to Matthew Beecher (Tyler JC) in the semifinals of the consolation side, 6-3, 6-4.
 
In Flight D, Ben Westwick and Denney Norrie were each knocked off in the semifinals to Chase Brill (WU) and Alex Mesquida Berg (SCCC), respectively.
 
Dillon Pineda, Angel Palacios, Yaswanth Mylavarapu and Quentin Scharfenberg earned exhibition wins for the Mustangs.
 
MSU Texas hosts the ITA South Central Regional beginning next Friday, Sept. 21.
