WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State kicks off the 2018 campaign with a pair of contests against foes from the RMAC on Thursday and Sunday. First year coach
Ryan Spence makes his home debut Aug. 30 against New Mexico Highlands at 5 p.m. at Stang Park.
Following the home opener, the Mustangs travel to San Angelo for a neutral site reunion with
Damian Clarke's Fort Lewis squad. Kickoff is tabbed for 11 a.m. at the ASU Soccer Field on Sunday.

Prodigal Son Returns
Midwestern State welcomes home former standout
Ryan Spence as he becomes the program's fifth women's soccer coach in team history.
In his first season as a head coach, Spence led Eastern New Mexico to a strong finish in 2017 which included a pair of victories over his alma mater including a regular season 2-1 win and 4-0 shutout in the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament. He posted a 5-9-6 mark in his first season with the Greyhounds.
Spence enjoyed a storybook playing career as a three-time All American from 2008-11. He helped the Mustangs amass a 64-10-6 record advancing to the NCAA Division II playoffs in each of his four seasons on the field. MSU reached the Final Four in 2010 following a run to the national quarterfinals in 2008.
His play at center back proved key in aiding the Mustangs to top five national showing in each of his three seasons as a starter. Midwestern held the opposition to goals against averages of 0.43, 0.58 and 0.54 with 35 shutouts during the run.
Mustangs Picked Fourth in LSC
MSU Texas was tabbed fourth in the Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Poll. The Mustangs received 83 points in the rankings, voted on by the league's coaches, sports information directors and media representatives.
West Texas A&M led the way with 109 points and 10 first-place votes to top the preseason poll, followed closely by Texas A&M-Commerce with 99 points and two first-place votes and Angelo State with 96 points and five first-place nods. Following the Mustangs in the poll was Texas Woman's (51), Eastern New Mexico (42) and UT Permian Basin (24).

The Maroon and Gold return seven starters and 17 letterwinners from last season's 11-8-1 squad that advanced to the NCAA DII First Round in 2017. Sophomore defender
