MUSTANGS NOTES

FIRST SERVE: MSU Texas makes its sixth straight and 18th overall appearance in the postseason field when it hosts 20th ranked Cameron at the MSU Tennis Center on Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Earning the South Central Region's No. 2 seed, Midwestern State faces off with the Aggies at noon for the third time this season and third time in postseason play. Saturday's winner advances to the Round of 16 set or May 9-12 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.

MUSTANGS IN THE POSTSEASON: The Mustangs look to advance to the Round of 16 for the seventh time overall and the fifth time in the last six years. The Maroon and Gold are 4-0 at the MSU Tennis Center in the NCAA Tournament, taking down Dallas Baptist in 2017.

RED RIVER RIVALRY ROUND THREE: MSU and Cameron meet for the third time this season and third time in the month of April on Saturday. The Mustangs took a 7-2 decision in the first meeting at the MSU Tennis Center, sweeping doubles and getting wins from Coffman, Panferova, Ramirez and Segetlija in singles. In the most recent meeting, the Lone Star Conference Championship match, MSU rallied for a 5-4 win with singles victories from Duff, Panferova and Ramirez.

A DOUBLES SWEEP: Midwestern State swept doubles in five of its last six matches – all wins. Further, all but one of the Mustangs' 18 team victories this season are credited, in part, by a sweep in doubles play. Prior to MSU's win over Cameron in the LSC Finals, the Maroon and Gold were 0-6 when failing to sweep all three courts. MSU sports an astounding 64-8 mark this season, including a 19-5 mark at the No. 1 line, 23-1 at No. 2 and 22-2 at No. 3. Junior Greta Lazzarotto and sophomore Bianca Duff own a school record 22 match winning streak while senior Daria Panferova and Maddie Rowe have won 19 straight at No. 3. Junior Maddy Coffman and Ashley Ramirez, who are ranked sixth in the ITA Doubles national rankings, have won 13 of their last 15 matchups at No. 1.

#MADDOG: Junior Maddy Coffman garnered first-team all-conference honors in both singles and doubles and remained ranked in the Oracle/ITA poll, coming in at No. 30 in singles while sporting two top 15 rankings in doubles with Ashley Ramirez (No. 6) and Bianca Duff (No. 12). The Flower Mound native is one win shy of matching Alex Odell-Michels (15 wins in 2009) for the most victories at the No. 1 line in program history. Coffman owns a 14-7 record in singles and a 19-5 mark in doubles while combining for a 79-20 (.798) record in her two years since transferring from Dallas Baptist.

#BINGO: Sophomore Bianca Duff received First Team All-Conference accolades in both singles and doubles, a repeat selection from her freshman campaign. The Geelong, Australia native moved up to No. 58 in the ITA NCAA Division II singles rankings this past week after clinching the deciding match point in the LSC Championship. Duff has won nine of her last 11 and 14 of her last 17 matches to build a 15-8 record in singles on the season. In doubles, she and Greta Lazzarotto own a perfect 22-0 record at the No. 2 flight, the longest winning streak in program history. The sophomore has combined for a 79-19 (.806) record in her two years, sporting a 47-5 record in doubles, including a 33-0 record at the No. 2 line.

DASHING TO VICTORY: Lone senior Daria Panferova has battled through injury to receive First Team All-Conference singles recognition for the second-straight year. After matching the program record with her 17th straight singles win, the Moscow native climbed into the ITA singles rankings at No. 71. The senior sits at 16-0 at the No. 3 singles line and 19-0 with freshman Maddie Rowe at No. 3 doubles. Panferova leads the team with a combined winning percentage of .822 in her career, going 74-16 in her two seasons.

SMASHLEY: Sophomore Ashley Ramirez was named to the All-Academic team and grabbed First Team All-Conference honors in doubles. The Scottsdale native is currently ranked No. 6 in doubles with Maddy Coffman, going 18-4 at the No. 1 flight. Ramirez has won six straight in singles, improving to 15-8 overall and 11-7 at the No. 4 line. In two seasons donning the Maroon and Gold, the sophomore boasts a 75-23 (.765) combined record, including a 43-9 mark in doubles.

GRETA THE GREAT: Junior Greta Lazzarotto became the 11th member of the 100-Win Club earlier this season and now owns 43 singles wins and 71 doubles victories for a total of 114, the eighth most in program history. The Italian's .888 career doubles winning percentage is the second-best in program history, behind only teammate Bianca Duff. This season, the Lone Star Conference Academic Player of the Year owns a 23-1 record in doubles and is riding a school record 22-match winning streak with partner Bianca Duff. In singles, Lazzarotto boasts a 9-14 record, primarily playing the No. 5 line for the conference champion Mustangs.
