FINAL HOME GAME FOR FIVE SENIORS: MSU Texas concludes its 2017-18 home slate with a Red River Rivalry matchup With Cameron on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Midwestern State's senior class of Jasmine Richardson, Kristin Rydell, Micheline Mercelita, Avery Queen and Whitney Taylor don the home white jerseys for the final time in their illustrious careers. Earlier this season, the Mustangs suffered a 73-56 loss to the Aggies on the road, giving up 31 points in the third quarter to relinquish the lead.
 
STANDINGS SHAKEDOWN: The Mustangs can enter the Lone Star Conference Tournament at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco as the fifth-seed by taking care of business this week and getting some help.
- If MSU goes 2-0 AND Tarleton State goes 0-2, the Mustangs would be the No. 5 seed.
- If MSU goes 2-0 AND Tarleton State wins against either UT Permian Basin or West Texas A&M, the Mustangs would be the No. 6 seed.
- If MSU goes 1-1, beating Cameron and losing to Texas Woman's, the Mustangs would be the No. 6 seed.
- If MSU goes 1-1, losing to Cameron and beating Texas Woman's AND Cameron loses to Texas Woman's, the Mustangs would be the No. 6.
- If MSU goes 1-1, losing to Cameron and beating Texas Woman's AND Cameron beat Texas Woman's, the Mustangs would be the No. 7.
- If MSU goes 0-2, the Mustangs would be the No. 7.
 
TAYLOR SHOOTING FOR HISTORY: Senior guard Whitney Taylor leads MSU with 9.8 points per game on 33.2 percent shooting. The Melissa native needs two more triples to break former teammate Lisa Hampton's (154 3s/2011-15) all-time record. The senior has 12 games this season with multiple made treys, including a season-high five against Oklahoma Christian on Nov. 11. Taylor continued to close the gap on Saturday, going 1-of-5 from deep, scoring six points.
 
PERFECT LIZ: Sophomore forward Liz Cathcart went a perfect 7-for-7 from the field on Saturday, scoring a season-high 16 points against Western New Mexico. Since returning from injury against UT Permian Basin on Feb. 8, the Spring Branch product has gone 17-of-31 (54.8 percent) from the floor and is averaging 10.5 points per game.
 
LSC'S TOP SCORER AND REBOUNDER COMES TO LIGON: Cameron enters the Red River Rivalry with an 11-15 overall record and a 9-9 mark in LSC action, having won five-straight against the Mustangs. The Aggies feature the Lone Star Conference's top offensive threat in sophomore guard Jamie Bonnarens at 17.5 points per game. At 10.3 rebounds per game junior forward Lejha Smith is the top rebounder in the LSC, one of two players in the conference to average better than 10 boards a game (Angelica Wilson, TAMUK).
