WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

MUSTANGS ON MUSTANGS: MSU Texas makes the 750-mile trip to Western New Mexico on Saturday, wrapping up the Land of Enchantment road swing at Drag's Court. Earlier this season, Midwestern State closed out a 64-47 win over the Mustangs at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Senior forward Micheline Mercelita picked up a double-double, going for 14 points and 10 rebounds while sophomore guard Chelcie Kizart added 11 and six. MSU forced a season-best 31 WNMU turnovers for 27 points in the rout.

TAYLOR SHOOTING FOR HISTORY: Senior guard Whitney Taylor leads MSU with 10.0 points per game on 33.5 percent shooting. The Melissa native needs three more triples to break former teammate Lisa Hampton's (154 3s/2011-15) all-time record. The senior has eight games this season with at least three made treys, including a season-high five against Oklahoma Christian on Nov. 11. Taylor continued to close the gap on Thursday, going 1-of-3 from deep, scoring six points.

MICHELINE THE MACHINE: Senior forward Micheline Mercelita notched her 13th-game scoring in double-figures, going for 15 points and five rebounds against Eastern New Mexico on Thursday. Over the last 15 games, the Edinburg native has six double-double performances and is averaging 10.9 points and 9.9 rebounds per game over that span. The UTRGV transfer is the fifth-leading rebounder in the LSC, pulling down 8.6 boards per game.

WIZ KIZ: Sophomore guard Chelcie Kizart returned to the court last Saturday against West Texas A&M, but the St. Paul native found her groove in the second half against the Greyhounds on Thursday. Playing 11 minutes, Kizart scored 10 points, her second-highest outburst of the season and went a season-best 6-of-9 from the charity stripe to pull the Mustangs even with ENMU in the fourth quarter.

GETTING IT TOGETHER: Despite a 1-24 record, Western New Mexico has played considerably better since flipping the calendar to February. The Mustangs earned their first win of the season, taking down Eastern New Mexico, 60-59, on Feb. 6. Prior to the first win, WNMU took nationally-ranked West Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Commerce and Tarleton State down to the wire, losing to the Lions and TexAnns by a combined six points. Junior guard Ciara Fields leads the Mustangs offensively, going for 13.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
