WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State and Texas Woman's meet in the quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Wednesday at TWU Soccer Field in Denton. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
 
Storylines
Tournament History
MSU Texas boasts five tournament championships (1996, 1998, 2011, 2013, 2016) in program history. In the last five trips to the conference tournament, the Mustangs have gone on to take the crown when picking up a win in the quarterfinals, but have been one and done in three of the five seasons.
 
Wednesday marks the first time the Mustangs and Pioneers have met in the LSC Tournament.
 
Against the Pioneers
Sophomore goalkeeper McKenna Williams made 11 saves in her first collegiate start earlier this season as MSU Texas battled Texas Woman's to a 0-0 double overtime draw at Stang Park on Oct. 5 in the first meeting.
 
Sophomores Kelly Cannistra, Micah Wilson and Madison Williams scored second half goals in Sunday's 3-3 draw with TWU on the road. Freshman keeper Samantha Upton made seven saves in the double overtime tie.
 
Tournament Outlook
West Texas A&M (15-2-1) claimed the Lone Star Conference regular season title with a 10-1-1 record, followed by Angelo State (10-6-2), Texas Woman's (10-5-3), Texas A&M-Commerce (9-7-0), Eastern New Mexico (7-8-2) and Midwestern State (2-12-3).
 
The Lady Buffs host the semifinals and finals in Canyon beginning on Friday, Nov. 2.
 
A win by the Mustangs on Wednesday would slot the Maroon and Gold against ASU at 5 p.m.
 
Cardiac Kids
MSU Texas has played seven overtime games this season, including four of the last five outings. The Mustangs are 1-3-3 in those contests.
 
Madison Williams scored the game winner 20 seconds into overtime in the season opener against New Mexico Highlands before Fort Lewis and the Mustangs battled to a 2-2 draw.
 
MSU Texas and TWU were each held scoreless in a double overtime decision at Stang Park.
 
The Mustangs took 17th-ranked West Texas A&M and Angelo State to double overtime, sandwiched around an OT loss to UTPB.
 
MSU Texas and TWU battled to a 3-3 draw on Sunday in the regular season finale.
 
Hometown Hero
Freshman Emma Baley leads the Mustangs with five assists on the season. The Wichita Falls product notched her first multi-assist game on Sunday with a pair of second half dimes against the Pioneers.
